All Five Senses in Church

Orthodox worship involves the whole human being – heart and mind and spirit, and also the human body, that temple of the Holy Spirit that our Eastern Christianity views so differently from the west. Unlike many modern church services, Orthodox worship includes chanting, candles, incense, icons, bowing to the earth, or standing for more than an hour. Everyone experiences these age-old traditions differently, but they are the same in essentials all over the world.
